1890-1892 – Professional at Royal Portrush Golf Club

1892 – Laid out Tramore Golf Club

1895 – Professional Golf Tournament – Royal Portrush Golf Club.

1902 – Played Harry Hamill in an exhibition match.

1902 – Killarney Golf Club was founded in 1891 but in 1896 it temporarily closed down until David Moriarity – “an enthusiast if ever there was one” – restarted the club in 1902 and he arranged for a match to be played between Tom Vardon (70) and Sandy Herd (72), “the supreme waggler”.

1902 – Greenore Professional Golf Tournament

1903 – played at Portmarnock Golf Club at Lord Lieutenant’s Party and likely resided in the viceregal lodge (Áras an Uachtaráin) for the duration together with Vardon, Sayers, Taylor, Aucterlonie, Massey and Braid.

1910 – Exhibition match – Rosapenna Golf Club (George Duncan, Tom Ball and Harry Vardon) 8-9 June

1910 – Irish Open Professional Championship at Portmarnock saw Sandy, the Huddersfield professional,return to our shores. After qualifying he reached the second round before being defeated by George Duncan of Hanger Hill on the 19th.

1927 – William Robinson was a fine “scratch” golfer and is recorded as partnering the famous Harry Vardon in a match against Alex Herd and John Hamill played at Bangor in 1927.
