Lee Valley Golf Club 1993-2018 (25 Years)

The Allen family arrived in Ireland in the late 16th century and took up residence in Clashanure House in 1714 and in the late eighties they reached out the Christy jnr. to put a plan together but it proved difficult to arrange the finance until the land was sold to a consortium (Brendan McDaid, Jerry Keohane, Ian O’Leary and Barry O’Connell) of four individuals who again reached out the Christy jnr. who they were aware had put plans in place already to develop the 150 acres.
Lee Valley Golf & Country Club was founded in 1993 following their first committee meeting held in Mother Kelly’s. The course was designed by the legendary Irish Ryder Cup star Christy O’Connor Jnr. His design has been praised for its challenging layout and stunning scenery.
Lee Valley offers luxurious 4-star holiday homes overlooking the course. These homes are available for both long-term and short-term stays, providing a perfect blend of comfort and beauty.
The 18-hole championship course has a course rating of 70 and a slope rating of 126 for men, and 72 for women. The club is a family-run (the Keohane family) business, ensuring a personal touch and high standards of hospitality.
Although originally an 18-hole event the Lee Valley Senior Scratch Cup is, since 2009 which Shane Lowry won, a significant 54-hole event in the Irish amateur calendar and carries WAGR points.
