Description

The Story of Jimmy Bruen destined to be one of the great amateur golfers of all time until a wrist injury effectively ended his competitive golf at an early age. His appeal was summed up by Pat Ward-Thomas “Of all the golfers I have watched down the years there was one whose game had a quality of excitement that was incomparable. Hogan and Cotton could stir the imagination..Thomson and Snead could create an awareness of beauty..but the golf of none of these men had a greater dramatic appeal for me than that of James Bruen, Citizen of Cork”. Jimmy’s father and wife Nell collected cuttings, photographs, letters, wires, scorecards, badges etc which all assisted in the writing of this book. The author, the late George Crosbie, was no slouch at the game either and was runner-up in the Irish Close Championship for three consecutive years 1955-57. Forward by Peter Alliss
