The Story of the North West Golf Club 1891-2011
North West Golf Club, is on the Inishowen peninsula nestled beneath the “Mouldy Mountains” on the shores of Lough Swilly in County Donegal, Ireland, has been a cornerstone of Irish golf since its establishment in 1891. The course was originally designed by Charles Thompson , the Portrush professional, Eddie Hackett was involved in remodelling and Pat Ruddy, an honorary member and renowned golf course architect, upgraded the course. Coastal erosion has meant that the course has always been evolving since its established and some holes have been lost altogether over the years. In the eighties they started building defences (sea wall) against the erosion but the eighteen holes currently sits on 90 acres.
