The club has a unique relationship with Brabazon Park, as it pays an annual nominal rent to use the park. The club is community-owned, with the original trustees being local figures such as Dean Connington, B. F. Cunniffe, and Michael F. Campbell.

The course was designed in 1930 by Major Benson, a renowned golf course architect based in Rosses Point. Swinford Golf Club features a 9-hole parkland course with a course rating of 35. The course is known for its scenic beauty and challenging layout.
